Are you itching to get your book published? Perhaps you are tired of sending your manuscript and getting turned down time and time again. How can you break this vicious cycle? Find out!
Many writers believe that all they need to succeed is a great manuscript, but is much more complicated than that. Getting your foot in the door of a publishing office might be a lot more difficult than you may imagine. In addition to that, spamming publishers will often get you nowhere. So, how do you get a book published?
Make Sure Your Book IS Good Enough
First of all, you have to make sure your manuscript is good enough. Sometimes, you might be biased, so it is for the best that you give your manuscript to someone who will give you their honest opinion. If your book needs revising, do not rush to publish your manuscript, rather give yourself time.
Invest EffortInto Promotion
You have to promote yourself. Whether you want to reach a big publishing house or your audience, working on your promotion will help you in every way. Also, remember – all publicity is great publicity, so do not be afraid to get some attention!
Successful Book Promotion Tips
We frequently get requests for interviews. Some of the interviewees have published more than one title. That’s wonderful; we enjoy promoting prolific writers. We also don’t make huge distinctions between self-published and legacy-published books. If you have a book that’s available ONLINE, meaning there’s a link to it on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, Kobo, and several other sites, it’s published. It doesn’t matter if it’s free or several dollars if it’s on a legitimate website we consider it published.
Some authors have been sending us interviews that don’t provide any information about where THEY can be reached online. They have no website, no blog, no Twitter, no Facebook page–nothing. If you want to sell books online, you must have an online presence. Websites can cost a few dollars a month. A domain name averages $10 per year. You can blog for FREE on Blogger, WordPress, LiveJournal and other places. Face Book, MySpace and Twitter are free. Best of all, so is learning about these sites and how to utilize them to your advantage.
If you have a blog, you’ll want to have readers, of course! One way to do that is to find people who like to read. If you write romance, you know some people love reading romances. Use Google to search for them. Use Blogger or Word Press in the same way. Many readers are always looking for new books to read!
Post your interview on your website or other informational sites to get you and your book[s] noticed. You can post them on large forums and have hundreds or thousands of readers see it. The more places you post your interview, the more chances you have to get noticed.
